Read the quality badge and print sizes

The badge compares a photo’s pixels with the print size, at the quality you choose. It never trusts the DPI written in the file, which phones set to almost anything.

About 3 minutes.

  1. 1

    Choose your quality target

In Settings → Display, choose 300 dpi (photo quality, the default) or 200 dpi (acceptable).

  2. 2

    Read the badge

“Good for A4” (green) means it prints sharply at A4. “Small prints only” (amber) means smaller sizes only. “Low resolution” (red) means even a 6×4 will look soft.

  3. 3

    Check the largest size

Open the order and choose a photo: it shows the largest good size and the largest acceptable size, in inches, plus a rating for 6×4, 7×5, 10×8, A4 and A3.

  4. 4

    Look out for the flags

The app also marks photos that are likely compressed by WhatsApp, likely screenshots, or duplicates of another photo in the order.
